Dear Families,
Can you believe we're now at the end of Week 8? Term 2 has absolutely flown, which means there are only two weeks left of Term 2! It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding term, and we are so proud of how hard our students have been working. As we head into the final stretch, energy levels remain high and we encourage all families to continue to support their child /children every day with the importance of learning and friendships at school activities over the final fortnight of Term 2.
Huge thanks to our incredible Year 3 Camp Wilkin Crew! (Susan, Belinda, Tim K, Alice, Tim C, Satya and Matilda) Despite some challenging weather on Day 1, the camp was a huge success, due to efforts from our staff including high energy, positivity, flexibility, and dedication. Thank you for keeping our students safe and for making it such a memorable experience for them. No doubt all children were grateful for a good night's sleep upon return from camp. I also attended this camp and experienced a heap of fun and adventure with all of our Year 3 students. I was particularly proud of many students who gave everything a go across the different activities over the 2 days of camp.
On Tuesday this week our whole staff were immersed and engaged in a very productive and purposeful professional learning day. Our whole staff learning centred on Enhancing Classroom Connectedness and Culture. Throughout the day our staff focused on strengthening classroom connections and empowering student agency. We actively engaged in a variety of circle structure activities to expand our classroom wellbeing routines. We explored practical ways to use class meetings to elevate student voice through collaborative, problem-solving conversations with our students.
This coming Saturday the 13th June at 4pm at St Therese Church Torquay many of our Year 4 students will be receiving the sacrament of Eucharist for the first time. This is an important occasion for our school, Damascus Parish, Year 4 students and their families. As a Catholic school community, the First Eucharist is a sacred moment of celebration. It marks a beautiful step forward in our students' faith journeys as they are fully welcomed to the table of the Lord, deepening their connection to Christ and to all of us. We warmly invite you to keep these children and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this special time, as they receive this source of strength, love, and grace.
In Partnership,
Nathan
