2026 Term 1 Week 4 Principal Report

The last couple of weeks have been very busy with so much happening across the school. Firstly, a sincere thank you to everyone who supported our 2026 Year 6 Leaders assembly last Friday. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout from our families, and I was incredibly impressed by the respect and enthusiasm shown by many students. The Year 6 pledge was a particular highlight, emphasising the commitment to fairness and social justice we value in our senior students. Additionally, recognising our Year 3–6 Student Voice representatives served as a powerful reminder of how integral student agency is here at ScoS."

At ScoS, the foundation of every great learning experience is a safe and respectful environment. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or representing our school in the wider community, we expect our students to treat each other kindly. Parents are asked to reinforce this message at home as well. Safety is a shared responsibility between students, staff, parents and families.

A huge shout out to all our families who joined us for our Learning Conversations that took place this week in the afternoons on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was fantastic to see such a high level of engagement and teacher/ parent(s) collaboration across the school. We greatly value the partnership we have with you; by working together, we ensure our students have the support and encouragement they need to enjoy school and flourish with their learning. Thank you to all the families who were able to invest the time to sit down with teachers, share insights and support their child’s start to the school year.

"Wow! What a fantastic Shrove Tuesday we had this week. It was wonderful to see so many families onsite, enjoying beautiful pancakes and great company. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to make the morning so special—there’s no better way to start the day than with a full plate and a sense of community!

This Sunday, February 22nd, our Parish will formally transition to our new name Damascus Parish. This special occasion will be marked by celebrating two masses. 9am at St Therese, Torquay with Fr Joel and Fr Linh and 11am at Nazareth, Grovedale with Bishop Martin Ashe and Fr Joel. Our school choir has been invited to sing at the 11am Mass at Nazareth Church. This day marks a significant milestone important to everyone in our parish and parish schools communities and we all look forward to it with great gratitude and joy. I hope to see many of you at one of these masses on Sunday.

Don’t forget—our annual Family Picnic is just around the corner! Join us on the school oval next Friday, February 27th, starting at 5:00 PM. This year, we’re leveling up the excitement by incorporating a Family Fun Colour Run! It’s going to be an unforgettable afternoon of food, community, and a massive splash of color.

Important: Be sure to wear a white t-shirt so you can show off your colors! We can’t wait to see everyone there.

A big thank you to the families who have already expressed interest in joining our Principal’s Community Forum. We will be in touch early next week with further details regarding the upcoming meeting. We are still looking for representatives from a few remaining classes, so if you’d like to be a voice for your child’s class, please don’t miss out—complete this form today to get involved.

In Partnership,
