Principal Message

As we wrap up Week 8 - Catholic Education Week and with the spirit of Harmony Week. It’s been wonderful to see all our students embracing the message that everyone belongs

We have had a lot on again this week.

  • Very entertaining Andrew Chinn workshops and whole school concert
  • Harmony Week liturgy
  • Year 6 leaders Pilgrimage to Queenscliff
  • Ride to school today
  • Sacrament of Reconciliation for Year 3 students

I also want to send a huge shout-out and a sincere thank you to the many Prep families who volunteered their time this past Sunday morning for our first School Working Bee of the year. It was truly wonderful to see so many mums, dads, and siblings working side-by-side with their children, rolling up their sleeves to mulch garden beds and tidy our grounds

Further my important safety message in our previous newsletter please note the following:

Keeping OurSchool Safe: Weekend & After-Hours Access

While we take pride in our school being a heart for the community, the safety of our students is our primary "duty of care." We have recently noted unsupervised students playing and bike riding on site; for the security of our kids and our facilities, this practice cannot continue.

Please remember that all gates remain locked outside of school hours. The keypad at the Mandalay Gate is for the exclusive use of TheirCare families—we ask that this code is not shared or used for general weekend entry. By respecting these boundaries and discussing "Safe Play" expectations at home, you help us keep our school a safe, well-maintained space for learning every Monday morning.

I am away next week from Tuesday - Friday attending a Principal Conference. Please note that Allison and Mark will be the Co-Principal’s next week for any important correspondence and communication.

Have a terrific weekend everyone,

In Partnership,

Nathan

Wellbeing Messages

On Tuesday 17th March, four of our ‘Student Voice’ representatives, Mimi Worthington, Ida Senftleben, Ollie Lambert and Ariana Lyle had the exciting opportunity to visit the new crane operating on Barwon Heads Road as part of major road upgrade works. They spoke to the engineer to learn about the project and the many people working together to build it. They asked thoughtful questions and represented our school with great curiosity and respect.

The students also enjoyed speaking with Libby Coker MP, the Federal Member for Corangamite. She spoke with the students about the project and the positive impact it will have on the Geelong community.

As part of this project, St Catherine’s students were invited to take part in a competition to name the new crane. We are proud to share that Jaxon Bow, from Year 1, created the winning name, ‘Titanic Jack’, accompanied by a wonderful colouring.

Congratulations, Jaxon!

Andrew Chinn - Butterfly Music

On Tuesday, we welcomed Andrew Chinn from Butterfly Music, who led engaging workshops with all classes. With over 20 years of experience providing liturgical music in Australian schools, Andrew shared his talents and passion with our students.

Each class participated in a workshop, and the day concluded with a joyful concert. It was wonderful to hear our students’ voices and to see such enthusiastic participation from everyone involved.

Reconciliation

Today we had 71 students across grades 3, 4 and 5 celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at school with Fr Joel & Fr Marcus. Students were respectful and reverent and should be proud of themselves in undertaking this milestone.

Mini Vinnies Update - Project Compassion

Loving God,

we thank You for the many cultures, languages and stories

that make up our school and our world.

Help us to treat one another with respect, kindness and understanding.

May we always choose inclusion over division

and work together to build a community of peace and harmony.

Amen.
